Akita s are exceptionally intelligent and obedient animals they have extreme loyalty and stamina providing they are properly trained. but they can also be ferocious and dominating if they are not trained correctly thats why akita training is very important for this breed .
They originated in japan and they were often used by Japanese nobility as guard and hunting dogs,capable of extreme ferocity and able to take down large prey..
Akita s are very intelligent and very strong animals, because they have such high intelligence it means they also have a very low boredom level and need to be constantly challenged with interesting activities.
Akita s also retain a very strong prey attack instinct they are strong ferocious attack dogs and it is very unwise for the owner of an Akita even a well trained Akita to let him loose around small animals such as sheep or small dogs, as he will not think twice about attacking or killing them. it isvery easy now days to be sued if your dog attacks another dog and does serious harm, so bear this in mind when walking your Akita.
The good news is that as long as your Akita is properly trained and is confident that you are the alpha pack leader then he will be a very interesting and capable pet, capable of being trained to the highest degree in agility or intellect or therapy work.

Down sides
One of the downsides of owning an Akita is that they can be very destructive around the house and especially to furniture if you don’t keep them interested and entertained, this is because they get bored very easily ,they may even start to chew at their own fur is they get too bored.
Basically if you are thinking of owning an Akita you must be able to give your dog a lot of time and attention, you must train him and show your alpha male status, he will need a lot of exercise and must not be left alone for long periods (that is if you want any furniture left) always bear in mind they have a very strong inbuilt hunting instinct and can be very ferocious so don’t let them off the lead in parks or around small animals. click here to learn more about akita training
